Quantify Strategic Insights recently provided small area estimates of the population living with a disability for a Victorian City Council to assist with the development of its inclusiveness strategy.

Quantify’s estimates were based on a model that was drawn from Census data, the Australian Bureau of Statistics Survey of Disability, Ageing and Carers, and the most up-to-date population estimates.

This allowed Quantify to estimate of the number of persons living with a disability in the Council area broken down by key characteristics:

  • age group;
  • sex;
  • geography (SA2/suburb/neighbourhood);
  • disability status and degree of need for assistance.

A methodology paper that outlines the project and highlights the type of data derived from the model can be downloaded here:

If your Council is looking to better understand the number of residents living with a disability, Quantify Strategic Insights can help you.
